| Cylinder Rim Locks mostly known as Yale Locks |
If you loose keys to a cylinder rim lock (Yale lock) we will try and manipulate the cylinders where possible. To drill the lock to open the door and then change the lock barrel is the last resort. Barrel changes on Yale type locks are generally inexpensive. Do not try this yourself, there are drilling points and we do it in a way not to damage your door.

If you lose keys to a mortice lock a professional locksmith will usually drill the lock to gain entry, replace the lock and provide a new set of keys. Alternatively a professional locksmith could pick the lock to gain entry and then make a new key for the lock. However, making keys is more time consuming and therefore often a more expensive option.

If you lose a key to a suited or restricted lock we can replace your suited lock or order a new key on your behalf.
Upvc Doors
Upvc door opening depends on how the door has been locked. Generally if you have just shut the door and were not able to double lock the door, we can normally open it at a 98% success rate with no damage to the door or lock.
If double locked it and you still have a key left inside, then we will do our best to pick the cylinder. If however you have lost your key and double locked the door, it is quicker to drill and replace the cylinder. This will also give you a new set of keys.
Mobile key cutting
If you need extra keys to your new locks, we can cut most domestic keys on site. This is normally better although slightly more expensive than going to a shop. It is better due to the fact we can test and perfect the keys in the lock. It is more expensive due to the fact its a door to door service and more time consuming than cutting a key in a shop.

Locksmiths have had a lot of bad press the past few years ( BBC rogue trader programme, newspapers, etc. ).Now many people exhaust all the options, sometimes causing unnecessary expence before calling a locksmith.
The problem is, there are no real regulations.There are many trade associations claiming to have fully trained members. However, many of these associations are rogues themselves. They charge thousands of pounds for weekend courses in Locksmithing. Many people with no trade background go on these courses and set up a locksmiths business shortly after. Would you have a mechanic fix your car after only a weekend training?
If you look through my website, you will see I am no ordinary Locksmith. I have full building knowledge through practice and experience.I trained as a carpenter before training as a locksmith. I regard myself as a general locksmith capable of doing many different lock tasks.
We are not all out to rip you off. We will do our best to open the lock without damage. Using the dreaded drill is always the last option.
